Do Now: Complete a Graphic Organizer on the Progressives vs. The Orthodoxies (10mins)
Activity- “Agree, Disagree, I Don’t Know”- A series of debates designed to see if students are more orthodox or progressive in their views. It will also assess if students are currently part of the culture war. (25mins)
Lesson- Write a paragraph about what you heave earned about your political culture and analyze how did your attitudes develop.
H.W- Make notecards of the following terms: political culture, civic duty, culture war, political tolerance, political efficacy, internal efficacy, external efficacy, orthodox, progressive, class consciousness, civic competence; Study for review activity and Political Culture Quiz

Presentations cont'd- Students will continue on their presentations of American political culture, while completing their worksheets from the presentations.
H.W- “Americans know their country has a lot of faults, but even the most critical Americans believe that the US only need to change certain policies, not its system of government”- Do you personally agree or disagree with this statement? Write a 5 paragraph essay explaining why. Make sure to have a proper introduction as well as a thesis statement, 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Students will be divided into 5 groups and will be assigned an element concerning American political culture. The groups are, The 5 Elements of Political Culture, The Economic System, Comparative Politics, Sources of Political Culture, Culture War, Mistrust of Government. (1 Group will do both 5 Elements of Political Culture and Mistrust of American Government). Based on assigned section, students are to complete a worksheet that dissects their assigned section of American Political Culture. At the end of 25 minutes, each group will present their section to the class while the remaining students will complete their worksheet from the students’ presentations. All students are expected to have the worksheet complete at the end of the presentations. (Presentations may take two days for students to present and for us to discuss- Monday & Tuesday)
